G-Suite Pictorial Logins for Junior Pupils

Is there any facility for having junior pupils (up to around year 4 or so) login to Google Apps (or "G-Suite" or whatever) via a Purple-Mash style pictorial login? As far as I can figure out, having some kind of custom Google login page is possible via their SSO facility, but I was wondering if anyone did a handily-packaged system already?

Ooh, that's a good idea. Any idea on rough pricing for Clever per school? - their website is a touch vauge, I get the impression they sell at the district / education authority level.

Clever is free! It's mainly U.S. but schools can register - they just won't set it up for you.

I haven't done it myself yet so any feedback would be appreciated.

I have a feeling that you can't sign into Google using Clever. Rather you can sign into Clever using Google, or a QR code. However, I need to verify that.

I think Clever can be used to sign into Google, which I suppose includes identity badges. It makes Clever the identity provider for Google. See this help page.

Or, you can use Google to sign into Clever. However, I would have thought that if you do this, you couldn't sign into Google with a badge.

Has anyone implemented 'clever' in this way? Want our younger students to log into Google easier than typing in an email address and a password.

I have had this setup since September, its very nice.

 

However I don't think it will work for PCs, worth talking to clever about though.

My identity provider in clever is Google so all users can sign into clever with their google credentials

 

I then had to get a cert from clever for my domain to setup sso and sso was restricted to the netmask 1.1.1.1/32

 

Then I changed the settings in the admin console for these devices to use SSO.

 

They have a guide of all the settings you need to change, the only one I did not follow was the change password url as I have passcore setup.

 

So the user experience for young students on a chromebook is click sign in > badge and hold up the badge to the webcam.

On a PC they can sign into clever with the badge but not google.

Older students sign into the chromebook as normal and then they are signed into clever via google, same for a PC once they sign into GAFE.

 

The only thought I have for making it work on PCs is to change the network masks, but then I'd think everyone behind your NAT would have to use a badge.

Clever is free to schools, they charge the vendors who integrate with them some of those vendors pass a cost to us. We signed up for a service that cost about $3K and I was told only $100 was for the auto rostering with clever, I didn't see the final quote myself.

Before I signed up with them I called and asked how they make their money because nothing is truly free and they have running costs.

 

I'm in the US so as someone else mentioned, I don't know if they are supporting UK schools yet.

I still don't quite understand how it actually works. They sign into clever and that signs them into Google? How does it do that?

 

Did you have to go into Google and set up clever as the identity provider? So when any one attempts to log into Google, it redirects them to clever for the authentication?
