Hitachi CP-A222WN overheating after 2 minutes

Hi

 

I have a Hitachi CP-A222WN which runs for a couple of minutes and then the fan speed increases and then it shuts itself down with the TEMP warning lamp showing. Once the fan stops spinning, you can power-cycle and the projector starts up properly. The bulb seems fine as you get a nice sharp bright image.

 

I have thoroughly cleaned its filter (I even tried running it without its filter once to establish whether it was air flow through the filter causing the issue) and taken the cover off and cleaned everywhere I could easily get to, but I haven't made any difference at all. Has anyone found a teardown guide for one of these - just wondering if there are other vents/filters further inside which might need cleaning.

 

It doesn't feel massively hot for a projector at the point it shuts down.....

 

Obviously it's out of warranty or I wouldn't touch it

Might be a faulty fan. Even if all the fans are spinning, one of them might be giving a false RPM reading to the main board and causing the unit to shut down.

 

From a user-serviceable perspective, if you have tried using pressurised air to clean out the dust and checked that nothing is preventing the fans from spinning then there is not much else you can do other than send it to a service centre, I'm afraid.
