andyturpie Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Morning all, Trying to get to the bottom of an issue, where it seems our new head's personal email address seems to appear as an auto complete suggestion when typing her first name. This even appeared under my log in account and I was never privvy to her personal email address. Now I know that I can right click and delete, but that isn't really a fix as i'm sure that the case is that the email address will be exposed to pupils. My questions are - 1) What would cause the email address to be cached? Was it possibly added to a private group at one point and then removed? 2) Is there a repository somewhere in O365 land where we can purge the address in one swoop? 3) Can we put a rule in that only internal domain addresses are cached as autocomplete suggestions? Any ideas would be helpful, third line are insisting it is a "feature", but I ain't buying that lol.
gshaw Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 You sure someone hasn't created a Contact item with the personal address on it?

gshaw Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 It'd become part of your Global Address List so would think so, we don't have any in there or I'd check on my tenant to be sure

CamelMan Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Sorry to pull this back from the dead, but did you find a solution etc to this? I've just come across this where staff's personal emails addresses are appearing as autocomplete suggestions for users who have not emailed them previously (and more worryingly students)?

Sorry, this has gone right down the priority list at the moment, never did get to the bottom of it, as a short term measure educated each individual to delete contacts that are not in use and not to rely on autocomplete, but we still get the odd enquiry about this from time to time. If I find a fix for it I will let you know. 1
PotNoodleTech Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 (edited) Go into the Admin area and go to Users > Active Users. Change view from All Users to Guests and see if your spurious email addresses appear on that list. If they do then just delete them. I am not sure why these appear as guests, I suspect it is something to do with "document sharing" when users share documents with people outside your organisation. Also go to Users > Contacts and see if they are in there. Anyone in there will be visible in global address book. Edited January 15, 2018 by PotNoodleTech 1
