fiza Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 When I first set up our MDT I populated the MDT Database with mac addresses and names of our machines so that the computer names were pre-populated when doing an image. Since then we have replaced nearly every machine in the school. I now want to populate the database with the new mac addresses and names. Do I just add them again or is it better to wipe the Database first?
Boredguy Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Well you can always use SQL Studio to create a SQL statement to update each computers MAC address, but we use use a CSV file and powershell to add new stations so it might be faster to empty the DB and start afresh 1

Boredguy Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Assuming you have SQL Server Management Studio installed on one of your servers, you can connect to your MDT database via it. Execute the following SQL command to empty everything out of the table TRUNCATE TABLE [MDT].[dbo].[settings] GO 1
Boredguy Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Oh you also have to empty the [MDT].[dbo].[ComputerIdentity] table to as that holds the MAC/UUID information that is linked by the ID value in the Settings Table.
