Using Google Cloud Print to print to user number

Hello All,

 

We have a number of Chromebooks in school and I want to be able to get Google Cloud Print to print to our Sharp copiers (MX3060n) We have got it working to the Admin account and it being stored in the folder. But ideally I need staff to be able to set the printing to their user number. We have this on Windows pc's but I can't see a way of allocating it within the Google Cloud Print.

 

Anyone got any ideas or has been able to do this?

So the best approach (and what we use) is to have embedded Papercut on the copiers. then its a simple matter of publishing the printer/copier/virtual print queue to Cloud Print and sharing it out (generally to groups not individuals). Without Papercut, you will need to Google Cloud Print service running on your print server. This will then allow you to share the copier to your users (we have a students Google Group and I'm the owner and I accept for the group - so the printer just appears for them).

@rogerdnixon - we have a similar situation where staff want to print from Chromebooks. We have embedded papercut on the copiers but we use shared accounts. Staff do not print to personal accounts and some staff are members of more than one dept. How would Cloud print deal with that?

So on Papercut our staff are either set to auto print to one account (if they only have one - so maths if they are a maths teacher). If they have more than one - when they send a cloud print job, after they print (much like on a PC) they have to assign an account. So they go to a local web page and signin as themselves and a pop up that looks like a web version of the PC pop comes up and they pick an account. If they do nothing they get an email reminding then they have a print job that requires their action (this is triggered 20 seconds after they send the job if they do nothing). They then pop to their nearest copier, sign in and release the job(s). Been working well for the past few years.
