CAM Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 I'm filling out the RAISE Online Dashboard and the VA section is asking for the Confidence Interval. I can display overall VA Score and Cohort size in 4Matrix but it doesn't calculate the CI. How do I work this out? I looked at a tutorial and this is well beyond my skills to even understand it! I was following the formula until I hit Cumulative Probability and got completely lost.
SouthCoastSaint Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Is Annexe D here what you need? https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/555090/Progress_8_school_performance_measure.pdf
djrscally Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 If it can wait till Monday, I'm pretty sure the government's figures are published then for the September Checking Exercise - that will have the Confidence Interval's already worked out.
CAM Posted September 23, 2016 Author Posted September 23, 2016 I think I worked it out in the end. Manually. Took an entire morning of work to di it though. Sadly the data was needed for some lady from the council to read over the weekend so couldn't wait.
elsiegee40 Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 What a ridiculous use of your time. He is the Data Manager
NotSoFast Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 I still think it's odd to ask for that kind of data. Without knowing the details I may be completely wrong, but VA can't be calculated in advance of the national data with any degree of accuracy, and the national data will be out in a couple of weeks. I just feel the LA don't need people in each school spending hours generating data that may or may not be correct. I sympathise with the OP!

I am keen to see how close I am with my predictions and calculations though.
djrscally Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Go check! The Tables checking data was published at 09.30 and has CIs in it. If you got it right can you explain how to do it please
CAM Posted September 26, 2016 Author Posted September 26, 2016 I can only see the overall Progress 8 CI in Summary.
djrscally Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Oh, really? Directly below that I get "Progress 8 lower confidence interval" and "Progress 8 upper confidence interval" too.
bobsmith Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 I'm filling out the RAISE Online Dashboard and the VA section is asking for the Confidence Interval. I'm looking at RAISE now and can't see a KS4 inspection dashboard for schools own data, can you elaborate on what you are doing and where you've found it?
