KMS Issues - VAMT 3.1

One of our DCs was configured as our KMS server, however I have migrated this to a member server and the DC had the KMS services/role removed. The new member server managing KMS is using Active Directory-Based Activation rather than KMS via DNS.

 

On the new member server, I have VAMT 3.1 installed and was able to add the keys in by right clicking 'Product Keys' in VAMT 3.1 and selecting 'Add product keys...'

 

Within the 'Product Keys'. I can see:

• Windows Server 2012 R2 RTM ServerDatacenter;ServerStandard Volume:CSVLK for Win 10
  
• Windows® Operating System, VOLUME,KMS_Win8.1 channel
  
• Windows® Operating System, VOLUME,KMS_W10 channel
  
• Windows 7 All Volume Editions Volume:CSVLK
  
• Office15_KMSHostVL_KMS_Host
  
• Office16_KMSHostVL_KMS_Host
  

 

I was then able to right click 'Active Directory-Based Activation' and select 'Online activate forest...'. I selected the key I wanted to have activated via AD and selected 'Install Key'. This process worked for:

• Windows Server 2012 R2 RTM ServerDatacenter;ServerStandard Volume:CSVLK for Win 10
  
• Windows® Operating System, VOLUME,KMS_Win8.1 channel
  
• Windows® Operating System, VOLUME,KMS_W10 channel
  

 

However, it did not work for:

• Windows 7 All Volume Editions Volume:CSVLK
  
• Office15_KMSHostVL_KMS_Host
  
• Office16_KMSHostVL_KMS_Host
  

I receive an error message when I try to activate the three above. The message is: 0xc004f050 the software licensing service reported that the product key is invalid.

(Windows 7 isn't an issue, as we have no Windows 7 clients on our domain any more, however the Office 2013 and Office 2016 keys are a priority)

 

How can I get Office 2013 and Office 2016 activated via AD? I don't wish to use the traditional KMS if I don't need to.

I think I've solved it. Just in case anybody else comes across this, it appears that I needed to install the following on the server:

 

Office 2013 KMS host
