CC4 Unable to create new user folder.

I'm trying to create a new user folder under the "students" folder we already have for the new year intake. When I try to it fails and the message is:

 

User folder creation failed.

Could not create the folder "foldername"

 

I can create a new folder in some of the subfolders under students but others give this message also. I cannot see any kind of properties for these folders other than changing the user template associated with them. I have also been having issues on and off with creating new users or moving them.

 

Any idea's? I have been searching through RM site but not seen anything useful at all.

 

Edit: In active directory I can create folders under the Students folder and Admin has full permissions.

 

Also might be related but CC4 shows the "used space" as -33739954454528 so there is some serious strangeness going on with it.

Edit 2: apprently the negative disk usage thing is just a UI bug and has no effect.

Actually I haven't yet but it was on my troubleshooting list once everyone has gone home (and is the fix to the strange negative disk space issue).

Not sure what you mean by negative disk space. Our RMMC shows Quotas Set as being more than the space available and this is marked in red. Can you post a screenshot?

Sorry just restarted the service host which fixed that problem but the main issue is still there (cannot create new user folders under certain folders).

 

The negative disk space issue was if you looked at the attacked it was showing the used space as -33739954454528 didn't effect anything and was just a visual/ui glitch.

The negative space has been a UI bug for years that I think they've probably deemed as unimportant ( I do recall a more technical explanation but it didn't involve a permanent fix).

 

If you're still having issues creating users then check the Event Logs on the server as the RM User Manager software should be logging issues when it encounters them.
