Data Manager (Pay Range 4 - £20,405-£22,090 pa) Term time only, plus two weeks during the school summer holiday • For November 2016

We have a vacancy for a Data Manager to run and develop the use of data held on our Management Information System.

As a school we are very keen to use ICT to its fullest extent wherever it would enhance teaching and learning. We have invested heavily in our ICT infrastructure and in staff training to make sure that there are few barriers to making effective use of the systems that are in place. At the same time, new opportunities are coming along and we are eager to ensure that we are not left behind as the world changes.

With 1300 students on roll, and 150 staff, the need for an effectively run MIS has never been greater. We use SIMS for the majority of applications (SIMS is the most widely used school MIS in the country). It handles all of the base data for everyone in school as well as Admissions, Assessment, Attendance, Curriculum Management and Timetabling, Examinations, Finance, Personnel including staff absence, Profiles (Students Reports) and a number of other functions. There are additional IT systems that are also part of the school’s wider information base, some of which are on-line.

A further responsibility is to submit termly census returns to the Education Funding Agency and other statutory returns, which require our data to be as accurate as we can make it.

Training in SIMS is available and support for SIMS is provided in school and via the local authority.

We are looking for someone who can oversee and administer much of our SIMS data (Finance being a notable exception), and develop the effective use of that data across the school. The post therefore requires a combination of strong IT and people skills, together with the ability to look ahead.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced CRB check.
