Quick KMS question

Right, using KMS for activation on Office 2016. I understand clients need to activate every 180 days so my question relates to teacher laptops which are out of the school most of the time. If said laptop was brought back into school say every 4-6 weeks would it reset the activation timer back to zero or does the reactivation check only happen at the end of the 180 day period?
