Using Eclipse2 with a barcode scanner.

All new Y7 have been imported. Y11 binned off and all other years moved up.

Can see all users in enrolment and in the various groups.

All books are catalogued.

Barcode scanner is working correctly.

Choose circulate and find a user.

When the books barcode is scanned there is an error message of "reader not found".

This error message does not allow us to loan any books out.

This is really bugging me as everything looks to be correct.

Any ideas?

scan the readers barcode into notepad and see what is displayed, it should have the ~ symbol at the front followed by the readers number/ barcode.

If you dont have the ~ symbol then you need to reconfigure your barcode reader.

If the number in notepad doesnt match the number in the system then you will need to make a barcode mask from settings.

Hi bennz

Thanks for the reply.

When you say "readers barcode" do you mean the student or the book.

The students have a pin code.

The books have the barcode.

Have just tried scanning a books barcode in notepad and the tilde ~ is there in front of the barcode.

The number matched the book in the system.

I believe the scanner to be working properly.

This is the problem I am having.

This happens after finding the user and then scanning the book's barcode.

I am afraid this was me having a spectacular blonde moment (no offence to any blondes out there)

MLS support called me and went through the motions of loaning a book.

After the reader has been found, you then need to highlight the readers details by pressing return on the keyboard.

when that has been done, you are able to loan books out to that reader.
