Hi

So our PCs used to show domain\username when unlocking the computer. I changed the policy to show only username, which was fine, but now when a computer is locked and you do CTRl, ALT, delete all users have to re-enter BOTH their username and password.

I changed the 'show user information on the lock screen back to 'not configured' forced gp update rebooted PC but it still asks for both the username and password when unlocking the PC.

How do I get this to go back to asking for only the Password to unlock the PC?

Thanks.

Hi ITGURU,

As long as I haven’t misunderstood what you are asking for this should work:

Browse down to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

On the right-hand side, create a new DWORD 32-bit value named: "DontDisplayLockedUserId" and give it one of these values:

  • 1 = Show the locked user display name and the user ID
  • 2 = Show the locked user display name only
  • 3 = Do not display the locked user information

Good luck.

Im not sure why, but to restore the correct screen, I have to physically enable the GPO item again but then choose all the options to display. then after a reboot it was back to normal.
