with 8+ you use a pc set the defaults as you need create an xml file and fire it out via group policy (cant remember the specifics)

We tried this and it didn't work in our environment unless the user is either an admin or doesn't have a mandatory profile. (Win10 1511)

 

So we went at it with a hammer and deployed a new OemDefaultAppassociation.xml to all the machines via GPO and that fixed it :-)

I just want to change the default web browser to internet explorer. Only got 1 IT room with chrome installed.

You could just deploy the change to that room if that room is in its own OU?
