Office 365 for education and adding a non sch domain

We are a Trust with a number of schools in the Trust.

 

For one school currently we have an Office 365 account with one domain tenancy, its an sch.uk and uses an office 365 for education subscription which is essentially free.

 

A new email domain is required for Trust members which will be a non sch domain.

 

Could we and should we add the new domain to the existing office 365 account?

Will we be able to get a free office 365 for education subscription for all users in this new domain. The Trust is helping to run schools and the Trust staff will be working in the school.

We have schools signed up on .org domains. They are LA funded schools but apart from having to confirm via a form with Microsoft there was no problem.

I've only recently added our .sch domain to our Office365 tenant. Before then it was just multiple .org.uk and .co.uk domains we own. We have the education subscription since we signed up.

You have a choice -

 

If you have an O365 Tenancy already registered with a .sch domain, then you can add any number of domains by following the wizard whether they're .sch not.

 

If you're starting from scratch and you're registering a .org domain for example, you'll need to go through additional steps/questions Microsoft request you answer to demonstrate you're a genuine Educational establishment.

 

The issue is .sch domains for example are a closed shop, yet .org is in the public domain.
