Hello,

Please can someone talk me through how to setup PaperCutMF for printing on the Mac side of our network?

We currently have it setup and working on the Windows side. There's 6 multi-function printers which are working through PaperCut. The students enter their username and password for the network to login to the printers and print their work etc, when they login to the Mac side, they login using their domain credentials, the Mac server is bound to out LDAP server. The printers are setup as 'follow you' type, there's a virtual printer host which is on the server, so students and staff can go to any printer and print.

If anyone can give me help as to why it's not working, would be a massive help.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan

What problems are you experiencing? What you'll need do is have the PCClient and the clients need to be able to see the printer, if you're using Profile Manager allow the student to see the printer.

Thanks

Aaron.

Hello,

Whenever I'm logged on as a student, it just doesn't allow me to print. To be honest I've just to say got profile manager up and running today, needs tweaking still though. The printers are listed but whenever I print and then go to the printers, then login as the user, nothing shows up in the queue.

You can email me directly if it's any easier?

If you get no one where, I can probably see if i included papercut instructions into docs i wrote for our mac/munki deployment setup.

IIRC, In my case I created 2 scripts/apps/packages - 1 to deploy the papercut client (And tell it to run), and one to deploy a default printer itself - then deployed them via our munki setup.

howver, it does sound like it might be the the PCClient isn't running in your case - how do you deploy apps out to your mac's?

Hello,

Thanks for your reply - I've only just managed to get Profile Manager setup today, so deploying apps etc is all going to be looked at in the next few days. Also, while I'm talking about deploying apps, is there a quick way to fill in the information box on Microsoft office for Mac? Our new users are being promoted to fill in details to use office word etc?

If you can help me with that that would be good, I know it's off topic. [emoji16][emoji16]

Hello all,

Thanks for your responses, I've managed to get it working, to be totally honest, I've got no idea how. I know that I deployed the printer via Profile Manager, when the user prints to the printer, they are prompted to enter their domain user credentials, then whenever i log in to any of the MFD's, their document shows up.

If i find out how i got it working, i'll let you know.

Thanks,

Dan :)

It's working because the follow me print queue is shared by bonjour when the user prints it holds the job in cups/papercut until user release and papercut knows who is printing because domain credentials :)
