aarongulley Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Hi Guys, I need some extra support, I have been going crazy over the last few days wondering why it isn't working. I upgrade our MacMini Server from Yosemite to El Capitan which caused printing management papercut to fall over no longer work, I tired rerunning the Control Print Monitoring etc didnt fix it. The error message I get when I try to print from Bonjour Shared printer from a client machine is: Printer is not responding. I then checked the logs and found Aug 17 17:28:30 bruce2 com.apple.SecurityServer[122]: displaying keychain prompt for /usr/sbin/cupsd(7418) Aug 17 17:28:30 bruce2 com.apple.SecurityServer[122]: Problem opening rules file "/etc/authorization": No such file or directory Aug 17 17:28:30 bruce2 com.apple.SecurityServer[122]: Authorization via securityd no longer supported I have tired everything I can think of, ethernet, windows queue, null printer. It's driving me crazy! Anyhelp would be ace! Thanks Aaron.
pantscat Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Hi Aaron, I'd guess that this is a keychain issue. Can you access KeyChain and unlock it? (e.g. the little padlock in the bottom corner)

pantscat Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Ok it was a punt! - Just wanted to check keychain hadn't become corrupt. It's something to do with the fact that \etc\authorization has been deprecated - odd though, I thought this happened in 10.9, so not quite sure why it should be causing you issues right now. I'll dust off my Macbook and have a dig around.
mikeglover Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Did you find a solution to this problem? I have got a load of iMac that were printing fine up until today. No changes to the mac system that I know of apart from server password being changed couple week ago but been working fine since then until today. I'm getting the same error message as described. Appreciate any help as I'm not versed in the dark inner working of mac and find overall Mac system to be poorly designed for networks.
aarongulley Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 Hi Mike, Please open Terminal and enter the following command, networksetup -setv6off Ethernet and for ipv4 just change v6 to v4 Restart your server and let me know. mikeglover Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Ok, can you also turn off ipv4. If I turn off IP4 as well I will have no connection to the network. What information are you basing this on?
aarongulley Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 This is for papercut, this is based on self-research and troubleshooting. Have you turned off aliases? Leave IPV4 on if you're worried and turn off aliases. 1. IPv4 aliasing can be disabled by first navigating to the following location on the Mac server which hosts your iOS-enabled print queues, where "[app-path]" is the PaperCut installation directory, and opening the "pc-iosprint.conf" file found there using a text editor: [app-path]/providers/iosprint/mac/pc-iosprint.conf Once you have the file open, locate the line which reads as follows: #noalias=on Remove the "#" character, such that the line now reads: noalias=on 1. I'm not sure what you are asking me to do. The printers are installed on the mac server and shared out. No papercut sofware is installed on the mac server. We have papercut but this is installed on a windows print server. The mac server has the printers installed via IP and not using the windows print server. And the mac server is sharing out the printer, so papercut shouldn't be part of the problem here.
