Anyone tested initial login speeds for a new user yet?

Without taking it any apps that is

I haven't done any testing as yet as my issue with logins will only be relevant on student devices which I haven't built my image for yet, but on the staff image I've created it seems to login much quicker than 1511. This has all the apps still on the image.

Yup, 30-35 seconds to set up a new profile with a user who's never logged into the machine before.

On a Hyper-V VM stored on HDD.

The en-GB ISOs are on MSDN now and through the new Media Creation Tool.

I don't remember MS ever posting them to VLSC.

That's a right pain, so there's a ready-made clean ISO that we can't access because it's only published to MSDN that we don't have access to with our EES subscription (only got TechNet listed as Software Assurance Benefits and DreamSpark Standard only gives server OS and SQL)...

...unless you know of another way to get hold of it or a suitable MSDN subscription?

Using the standard VLSC download at the moment but a little part of me wants to have the en-gb version just in case there's something different in there localisation-wise

Edit: Media Creation Tool wants a reboot to run when I've got loads of stuff open, remember when software installation reboots were meant to become a thing of the past

Download the ISO from the TechBench website. They are identical to the MSDN ISOs.

See post #40.

Anyone encountered this yet?

This is before the latest update is applied but seen it on about 5 of the 18 laptops I've imaged.

You get logged off but it will log you back in fine next time.

This version seems really buggy to me.

Microsoft's TechBench website has it.

Will this activate with volume keys?

Err installed 1607 and so far noticed no difference. Same old stuff and missing gpos. Control panel still a mixture of old and new. A year of testing and that's it?

I'd say the new Linux subsystem is pretty damn impressive personally

There's a huge amount of changes...

Why are you so obsessed with the Control Panel? :D

Considering that it has been around for almost 21 years it's going to take a while to sort out properly and move everything across to the Settings app.

Meh, a list of twiddles and tweaks. Nothing that is much practical use.

I'm not obsessed with the control panel - I just think the whole thing is a half assed mixup. If you're going to give us a new 'immersive' control panel then flipping well get on and do it! And if you're giving us Edge to replace IE, then how about some useful GPOs, and if we have to have the clunky start tiles how about GPOs that work for those too!

And for gods sake, get rid of that ridiculous 'Hi...We're just getting things ready for you' Argggh!!!!

Yes. I used the relevant GVLK (NW6C2-QMPVW-D7KKK-3GKT6-VCFB2) and it activated fine through our KMS server.

Do the links on this page work for you?

Microsoft doesn't care about GPOs any more, there's 0 for PC Settings. They don't want you to use Windows Server (increasing prices) or Windows Client it seems.

No doubt it will be released to the end of august.. excellent timing by MS again! I wonder if there will be an inplace upgrade for it.. i hope so, so we dont have to recreate the images again.

Edit.. it looks like it will be out October 1st https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/windowsitpro/2016/08/02/whats-new-for-it-pros-in-the-windows-10-anniversary-update/

If you have already deployed Windows 10 and use Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and/or System Center Configuration Manager servicing plans, you can get the Windows 10, version 1607 update on August 16th.

Yeah. It's a shame Microsoft can't release all of the ISOs to MSDN and VLSC on the same day. :(

am I right in that EES doesn't come with an MSDN subscription?

You're right unfortunately (unless you count DreamSpark?).

Annoying, in the past we got a free technet/MSDN sub with it, but that looks like it's all been discontinued now.

Admit have just set up our dreamspark stuff just to see if I can get it early :p Of course, the details to set this all up are buried at the bottom of our EES email and don't really appear in the VLSC at all...
