Adobe Premier Pro CC

Hello,

I'm in the private sector and we have a new digital marketing person who has started. We've got them the full Adobe package subscription to PhotoShop etc.

 

They are using Adobe Premier Pro CC but it keeps crashing.

 

Currently the only have a:

HP G1

5th gen i5 3Ghz quad

8GB DDR3 RAM

500GB SATA HDD

Windows 7 64BIT

 

What spec realistically does it need?

What are they trying to do?

Adobes great in the, you can throw as powerful a PC at you want to at it if you need to.

 

I've seen 12 core mac pros with 94gb of ram and Quaddro k5000 thrown at it, and it maxed them all out when pushed hard

And I've seen it run on early windows 8 tablets on i3's without issue.

 

If the PC's not powerful enough I expect you'd see lots of loading screens and rendering rather than crashing

In the future they may create longer.

 

Yes I think the crashing is odd - it's a clean install of windows and brand new PC and new install of Adobe. They were having some issues and Adobe remotely connected and reset the settings but seems to be still happening so I thought perhaps the PC isn't powerful enough?

for vids like that, maybee a low grade nvidea gtx, i think the 750 is supported? (adobe have a list on their website)

But I've seen more done on less without crashing.

i saw macbook pro 15 with the i7 and 750 rock adobe and i saw hour long edits running on them just fine.

 

check thier media files for corrupted media or wierd file types. 9/10 that was the source of unrelieable premier when i saw it tested.

I've used Premier on one of our 5-year-old standard classroom laptops to edit a 2-hour-long, 3-camera-shot school production with no problem. Nothing fancy, just cutting between camera shots every now and then. I've then handed that same laptop over to someone else who had problems with it crashing every few minutes. The main issue I could see was that every time Premier had to pause for a few moments while it rendered / worked on something they tended to panic and mash every button in sight to get Premier to respond in some way. You do have to let Premier sit and process stuff at times - an SSD defiantly helps as it can reduce the disk access time.

 

Otherwise, I'd agree with the statement above about Premier not liking the encoding of the video file in some way. Check how the video is encoded, and see if converting it to something else makes the problem stop.
