I've used it as a stopgap for a school that had no filtering until we got Smoothwall. It's good on it's own (free version), I'm not sure how much better the paid version will be (I believe it does AD integration etc which is good) however I'd probably not want to risk it in a live school environment.

Interesting, been in a school today where an IT support company had taken over and taken out Smoothwall in place of this!

 

Doesn't look bad, seen far worse but never heard of it.

Works well has a bridge between your network and a managed router if you want that bit of extra control. We used one when we had no access to our router configuration to block 80 and 443 unless it was from certain ipsec (servers) or our proxy. Nice to redirect NAT rules also.

I used it as quick setup for NAT between a transparent proxy and main network. Simple and works a treat. Did plan to replace it at some point but don't see the need as its been rock solid.

It's only the free version and the free web filtering is ok as well.
