Windows 10 headache

I'm having another go at trying to create a positive windows 10 image. I have imaged 10 Pcs onto windows 10 education along with the deployment of the classic start menu.

 

To get rid of apps and other gumf that comes with it, I have now made a fresh image of windows 10 LTSB to remove most the rubbish and NOT installed classic shell.

 

After I joined to the domain using exsting names, the start menu then breaks and doesn't come up, but if I add as a new computer to the default pc OU it works.

 

However, is there a definitive guide for the windows 10 start menu? Is it possible freely to customise the start menu that WILL roam with all users for whichever computer they log on to/

 

If so, please could it be linked so I can get a working roaming start menu solution without the need for classic shell? I'm on the latest release freshly downloaded from Volume licensing site.

Been there! And gave up and went with Classic Shell - which makes using Edu/Ent a lot easier than ltsb.

 

The Start Menu/tiles in 8/10 is a mess that MS don't seem to want to resolve.

When using classis shell is there a reason why you didn't go for LTSB, or why it is easier to go for the other options?

The reason I went back to edu with the classic start was really to hedge my bets in case LTSB turns out to be a dead end. Yes it does appear to be the Windows 10 we all need, but without the recent updates it had as many issues and bugs as Windows 8.

Same boat, following my colossal mistake of not realising Edge isn't available in LTSB, I went full circle from testing the unnecessarily bloated Edu, to LTSB, then back to Edu.

 

I shelved testing back in May, opting to test again (thoroughly) in early August with a colleague. I'm still not overly keen on deploying it in education or corporate environments.
