Does anyone have an Avantis OpenCD server and if so, have they tried upgrading the HDD in it?

Ours currently only has a measly 30gig... but I want something more substantial to get it used a bit more...

We've got one but not thought about upgrading it, more like getting rid!

Sure it has it' uses, but if for some reason it's off noone notices the programs are there, just that it takes forever for the Start Menus so load!

We had one of these which only worked for one day. We sent it back, it came back. It still did not work. Sent it back, it came back,...To and fro like this so many times I lost count.

They [Avantis] even sent a loan server while they [top technical guys at Avantis, with the managers personally monitoring progress] were 'fixing' ours. That failed too!

Anyway on to the real reason for replying: When I formatted the HDD in our server cannibalised some bits from another server to get it up and running I found that it was under supplied on the power supply front. I could only add an extra HDD and not the CD or DVD drive I also wanted to add.

See this post: Dual SATA HDD Computer

It would seem that, at least with the genetation of machines that were suppled to us, that the power supply was [slightly?] under spec'd.

Lithium: you could probably buy our whole CDServe for the cost of a new hard disk if you want it! I don't see what they can do that daemon tools pointing at an ISO can't. Maybe our CDServe doesn't have the features of the newer ones..
