binky Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Ok, how would I go about doing a fresh db install of SIMS, I have tried this but the SIMS Configuration Wizard reports 'The Configuration Files cannot be located'
scottyses Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Run SIMSINST in setups. Select that the installation will be a document server, SQL server. If you select options you can specify where you create your sims, setups, document server folder locations etc. If you want to attach your current DB use DBATTACH Need any more help, PM me Scott Slocombe Stamford Endowed Schools
binky Posted February 9, 2008 Author Posted February 9, 2008 tried this, but configuration files are still missing, i want to create a new isolated test environment, i.e. completley new DB, not attaching old DB.
zag Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Are you using a main release CD? Thats the only way I know of creating a new sims install on a different server.
binky Posted February 11, 2008 Author Posted February 11, 2008 The only one i could find was may 07 and august 07, however these are just SOLUS updates?
Greg Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 To install a new blank sims database you need the Sept 07 dvd and follow the instructions included on the disk. If machine has previously had sims on it then uninstall and remove all traces first
binky Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 Is this available as an image on the net, because Capita take ages to send these out.
Aquaface Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 The other option is to use the Feb 06 CD (Pretty sure it's that one) and upgrade, it doesn't take that long seeing as the DB is empty.
binky Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 (edited) Is it downloadable online (i.e. http://dl.capitasolus.co.uk/cdimage/may07main.zip - tried feb06main.zip) EDIT: I do not really want to have to phone Capita to order a CD because they take weeks to deliver!
