Setup Google Apps for Education for a MAT

My school has recently become a MAT and we have taken over a local school that was in special measures. We are looking at several different platforms for gradually moving our data from on site servers on to the cloud as part of our full network IT refreshes. As yet, the new trust doesn't have a website, but we do have a domain name and I have switched over all of our users on to the new MAT alias. For setting up Google Apps, would I set up each school individually, or would I set it up as 1 single MAT institution? We do still have the old .sch.uk domains in place and these will remain (for sign up verification), but I just wanted to know how other MATs have approached the setup.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have any instructions or any links to instructions as to how I can get the ball rolling?

 

The main thing we want to do is have a shared storage area, with a view to completely moving our shared areas on site in to the cloud. Can this be done with Google Apps? I know that each user gets a Google Drive (with 30GB space? Or is it unlimited?) Would I have to create a "[email protected]" account and get everyone to put their shared data in that?

I didn't use any links or anything, i Just got cracking. It was pretty self explanatory. When you sign up you need to specify a primary domain, I used the trust domain. I then added the other domains for each Academy. I then created OU's for each academy and placed my users in there.

 

It can be done yes as you said. However there is a sharing limit of 200 users, this may cause you issues as it does with us.

 

The storage is unlimited.
