sniffingmoose Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Windows 7 pro 32bit. Well I have seen it all now as regards strange errors. Click on shutdown and the system reboots. Tried the DOS command shutdown -s and it still reboots. Press the power button at the front of the PC, when you think its off but hey no up it comes back on line. I have the computer that never wants to go to bed! Has anyone encountered this strange one?
6Foot2 Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Hi @sniffingmoose, More detail needed here: Have you made any changes recently? [added hardware/drivers etc] How long has this been an issue? Can you supply any error messages that you might see after start up?
sniffingmoose Posted June 9, 2016 Author Posted June 9, 2016 The PC has been running for 4 months OK since I installed a new Solid state drive and re imaged. The problem has been happening for a week. No error messages after startup. PC works fine. Its a Stone tower PC.
DJ-1701 Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 If no new software has been pushed out to it, have any new Windows Updates been deployed to it recently? If so might be worth uninstalling and seeing if that makes a difference.
sniffingmoose Posted June 13, 2016 Author Posted June 13, 2016 I have fixed it. It was a faulty TV tuner card installed in the PC that was causing the computer to reboot instead of shutdown. 1
