Morning,

Anyone else experienced hives? I was playing with my kids last night and noticed underneath my guns (ha) my skin was all bobbly and blotchy... I took off my shirt and it was all over... I looked like the singing detective.. ish. Weird thing is an hour later I was back to normal. no idea what the trigger was as nothing has changed in my routine.

I presume it was hives.. I am a GP (Google Practitioner) so self diagnosed. I cant take credit for that reference, it was on The News Quiz last week.

yes! i get them when fighting with my dog! (thought i was allergic to him!) haha, only at this time of the year though :/ took me a while to realise it was the grass pollen he picks up on his coat when running through long grass! (i have hay fever) :/

I get them at the change of the seasons or maybe it's eczema - it's hard to tell from the pictures supplied by Dr Google.

Seriously, I've had them off and on for years. I used to attend the skin hospital in Birmingham and they said it was hives. My GP said it was eczema. Both prescribed cortisone creams which didn't help much. What works for me, although it may not work for you, is to wipe the area with surgical spirit. Not wearing clothes helps too (not very practical most of the time) and when I have to wear clothes (which is most of the time), natural fibres help a lot. This can be a problem in itself. Finding pure cotton shirts and trousers is no problem, but pure wool sox is. The answer is to knit my own on a 100 year old circular knitting machine. I can turn out a pair in a couple of hours.

My brother broke out in a rather nasty case of Hives over his entire body and we ended up with a paramedic coming over as we didn't know what it was. He told me to pop down the newsagent and pick up some paracetamol to fix him up.

I just started taking Glucosamine which contains shellfish so I wonder if its a reaction. I bought a years supply so I cant stop. :)

That will do it every time!! Shellfish, my son has this reaction after eating anything shellfish!

I would advise against taking it for a few weeks then trying again to see if this is the real problem.
