[sims] Reports - AHHH! help please?

So, I've been happily (?) printing off reports from Sims for a year group this morning. Now just went back to the report to print off copies for absent parents, and nothing pulls through. Go into the template, and it's full of 6th Form tags!!! WT...

 

Does anyone know how I can get my original template back (which was absolutely fine and working perfectly)?

Have you been editing the templates during the process?

 

They are in the document storage, so your backup of that folder would have it. Getting it back out might not be so easy.

 

There must be a reason it's gone funny. Can't you restart and see if it comes back?

No, but I've been going into two different templates, but from multiple Sims sessions.

When a template get modified by anyone/anything in SIMS the old version of the template is stored as an orphaned document. I'd recommend exporting a copy of your Assessment Manager Individual report as it is at the moment, then going to 'SIMS.net | Tools | Housekeeping | Document Management Server | Maintain Orphaned Documents' and look for the last copy of your template in there. You're SIMS support unit should be able to provide you with documentation and guidance about the best way to go about this if needed.

Define multiple SIMS sessions. On the same computer this could be risky, as the templates and a lot of processes use temporary files, or a standard template filename until saving. Two processes, though it would need to be edit I would think, could lead to corruption. Even if you open it to look at it, then hit save at the end instead of cancel this could cause issues.

Hopefully you can recover it quickly using Esteban's method, otherwise you'll be reliant on backups.

thanks vikpaw. Yes, I was using two sims sessions on one computer. Well, serves me right for trying to do things quicker. I won't be doing this again. thanks again for explaining.
