Junior Librarian problems

I have recently done a fresh install of Junior Librarian on a standalone PC. We got a new library so we set everything up from scratch.

 

I have 2 issues.

 

First: the loans view doesn't show the date the book was checked out, nor the date it was returned. There is a column for due date but it is blank. I am sure I should be able to set a default loan period somewhere, but I can only find one for textbooks, which is a fixed 'end of term' date. Surely it should automatically set a 4 week (eg) period for each book as it is checked out?

 

 

Secondly, I want to add the checked out date to the Loans view. I can see how, and can add the column onto the screen but when I try and save the new view I get a database error message.
