CleverLynx 4.8?

New image has me checking I'm up to date with all my software. I've come to download the latest version of Lynx from CleverTouch...

On here they say 4.8 comes with new features....

 

"Excellent!", I think, "a teacher has been asking me about these features for MONTHS. Also Lynx hasn't been playing well with Windows 10."

 

So I download from the website and install. Except it's version 4.7.

 

Anyone got a copy of 4.8?

Called Sahara head office and I've been told that 4.8 is still in beta and that he's going to find out about when the download links are available. I could download it, but I don't want to put beta software on an image. I guess I'll just have to be patient!

I've replied on this post as I'm seeing issues with the latest updater with Cleverlynx - I've downloaded and installed the software on a few machines. I'm now being nagged to update it 'this will be a big update warning'.

Following a link to download the new installer Win7 / 64 bit .exe file, I've compared file copies of what I've installed and what I'm being told I need - and they are the same.

Is anyone else experiencing these problems?

The download does seem to be the same (same name and size) but it is different. If you run it, it should be a newer version.

 

That's something that has bugged me too... no version naming on the msi or exe's.

The standard convention for EXE and MSI files is that they have their version as part of their properties. If you right click on any Lynx EXE or MSI file, select 'Properties' and select the 'Details' tab, it will list the version number so you can be assured which version you are installing. The download link on the CleverTouch website always points to the latest version (hence why no version number in the file name). The Release Notes are linked on that page as well so you can know what the latest version is and what changed.

 

The Lynx Launcher on the CleverTouch website, will keep Lynx up to date for you if you install that.

 

Also, if you have a question or feedback about Lynx that you would like the developers of Lynx to see, there are options in the Help menu.
