Windows 10 upgrade from 8.1 & creating a master image

could anybody advise me on windows 10 upgrade before the free upgrade comes to an end?

 

We have around 35 PC's in the ICT suite. We bought the PC originally with windows 8.1. We have installed Windows 10 using Acronis deployment tool. We were not able to activate the windows 10. The error message comes as not a valid windows 10 key.

 

I need to make sure I can activate windows 10 and keep an image, if something goes wrong I can install it from the image.

Are you installing an 'equivalent' upgrade version? (ie. 8.1 Pro with 10 Pro, not 8.1 Core with 10 Pro...)

If the editions differ and you're not supply an eligible product key then that is probably the reason.

 

Do you know the product key of Windows 8.1, if you do you could try to reset the product key using

 

Open an Elevated Command Prompt and type this

cscript  //nologo  slmgr.vbs  /ipk  

 

for example,

cscript  //nologo  slmgr.vbs  /ipk  ABCD1-ABCD1-ABCD1-ABCD1-ABCD1

 

It might help for you to publish in your reply to this thread the current activation details using

 

cscript  //nologo  slmgr.vbs  /dli
