My Documents Re-Direction

Ok see heres my issue I have searched around the forum but couldn't find anything matching my problem.

 

So here goes I recently replaced a 6 year old 2008R2 server with a 2012R2 Server (no problem there)

When creating the OU's i did the normal one of pupils and staff etc, applied all the policies to the pupils one as per normal

then went off to the Windows 7 clients and connected them all to the new domain (fantastic all is well at the moment the day is looking good)

 

I connected all the staff laptops to the domain and copied all the my documents and desktop icons etc to their new profile that had just been created,

but then for some unknown reason I applied folder re-direction to their OU so that my documents re-directed to their home drive (for what reason I did that I still don't know :-( )

 

So I have removed the policy now but not before it had kicked in :-( now the policy has been removed the contents of my documents has gone, would the contents have copied to the server anywhere ?? As I have a couple of teachers saying they saved things in there over Easter and now they cant find them anymore ???

 

Or is there any utility out there or batch file that can wipe out all traces of old policies from a client ??

I have had this before. We had the "move content to new location" set but there was a problem with the path and all documents were lost.

 

Luckily we had a backup.

 

I assume you have checked the local profile path and any paths defined on the server?

Yep I checked what I could I only visit the site once every 2 weeks so not back there till a week on Monday, I'm kinda hoping I can log on with the old profile still and recover them as when i go to

 

C:\Users\'the users profile' there doesn't seem to be a documents folder listed.

 

I do however still have the old server so will check that on Monday to see if anything is on that or if they had some type of folder redirection before.
