CapnPugwash Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Hi, we have two DC's. I've noticed that users connecting to the older one (Server 2008 R2) don't always get the correct GPO's. I have had an issue recently where I couldn't open the GP management console on this DC due to an RPC error - I restarted both DC's and the issue was resolved. If I run repadmin /showrepl - replication checks out successfully If I run dcdiag /v > dcdiag.txt the tests pass... but fsmo roles are listed as belonging to an old decommissioned DC If I run netdom query fsmo ; it shows the same roles being held by the correct DC Not sure what's going on here ... or even if this is related... but something doesn't seem right...
WSRV_Guru Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Hi CapnPugwash, Have you checked whether the operations master is set to the correct DC and that the FSMO roles are also hosted on the correct one too? You can check which DC is the operations master by heading over to Active Direcotry Domains and Trusts, right-clicking the Active Directory Domains and Trusts icon again and then pressing Operation Masters. Let me know the outcome.
CapnPugwash Posted May 18, 2016 Author Posted May 18, 2016 Thanks for your reply. The Operations Master is set correctly.
