TechSupp Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Think I have asked this before but cant find it! I need to image a PC (just a single one not a whole batch etc) whats the best software to use (free). In the past with normal HD's I used Clonezilla but when I looked into doing this with SSD's found it wasnt compatible. What would the learned masses suggest. What I want to do is Image to a USB drive then reimage from the USB drive to the new machine.
Sheridan Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Macrium Reflect free version. We use it for single images or hdd to ssd copying.
MatthewL Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 I frequently use Clonezilla with SSD and not had any issues.
TechSupp Posted April 29, 2016 Author Posted April 29, 2016 Will look into Macrium thanks. Tried clonezilla last year but didnt work then read it had issues writing the image to correct place on SSD.

I had problems in the past. I was going from a 200gb to a 120gb SSD. I had to reduce the partition down to 100gb, then did a disk to disk copy by piggy backing it and choosing one of the advanced options. It worled a treat and was pleasantly surprised.
TechSupp Posted April 29, 2016 Author Posted April 29, 2016 What was that using Timbo343? Macrium or Clonezilla?
timbo343 Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Sorry, it was clonezilla and used gparted to reduce the partition.
