GPO settings not persisting

I've put together a GPO to apply some settings to some Windows 10 devices before I hand then out. I have a security group in AD which I move them into after adding them to the domain. Once everything is running the way I want it to I move them into the appropriate group for their planned keeper - eg staff laptops. However, at least one of the settings isn't being kept when I move the computer into the new security group.

 

I am applying the Windows Components/Search/Allow Cortana and seeing it to Disabled. When the policy applies, it works - the Cortana search box disappears. When I move the device into its proper home in AD, it comes back.

 

What am I doing wrong?

Can you do a gpresults test to see which group policies are being applied.

 

It sounds like the group policy is being applied to that specific Security group and not the security group(s) you then move the device into.

 

Edit: When you say proper home, do you mean a different OU?

That's exactly what's happening - I just thought it would stay applied unless I moved it to a group where a different setting was applied to change/update it.

 

And I meant OU not security group.... Sorry to confuse.

 

Perhaps I need to use a GPO to deploy a registry setting instead?

Sounds like the gpo is not linked to the new OU you're moving them to.
