School Bus Service Management in SIMS ?

I am new to the SIMS system and this is my first SIMS forum post.

Hope this is the right place for this type of general question.

 

We offer a school bus service that students can opt-in to (for a fee). The service is manage internally.

The service scheduling, signups and invoicing are currently all managed outside SIMS in Excel/Access.

I have been asked to look at the possibility of moving some of this into SIMS.

 

Would User Defined Groups be a sensible place to put information like this ?

Any suggestions for other options I should consider for school bus service management ?

I'd create a user defined group containing the pupils you can also create reports on user defined groups so reports into Excel, mailmerge etc might be easier to manage? All depends on the types of things you are planning on managing within SIMS?

SIMS doesn't handle finance (other than dinner money) if you want to take payments then you'd need something like SIMS Agora (or equivalent) which can write back to FMS (if you use it)
