crc-ict Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Hi All, Looking for recommendations of how other people have gone with providing webcams in ICT Suites. We are setting up a new suite in the coming weeks, and I know that there is going be a requirement from staff for access to webcams/usb cameras for things like stop-frame animation etc. Just looking for advice on the best way to go about this really! I don't want to leave webcams out and connected all the time, and I don't want to spend a lot of money on them - we are a primary, so money is tight and they will only get fairly light use. Any suggestions for models and decent priced suppliers? We'd be looking for 32 units, and really not paying much more per unit than the £3-4 of the ebay VGA cheapies honestly! Thanks.
Sheridan Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 When we last setup an IT Suite we had the PCs in boxes under the desks (locked away!) but with a USB extension on the desktop. Teachers can then hand out the webcams and they are plugged in just for the duration of the lesson. The only downside is that we had to make sure the webcam drivers were in the images for that suite - we used Microsofts webcams and they seem to do the job nicely, we did try some cheaper ones but had issues with drivers and really poor images!
unixman_again Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 We do what Sheridan does, but use use Logitech C920s - robust and excellent images.
