You will however, on occasions, be required to work outside these hours to meet the requirements of the college and especially during the exam periods and results days. The Sixth Form College located in Hulme, a mile south of the centre of Manchester and very close to Manchester University and Manchester Metropolitan University, with excellent transport links. It is a part of an international network of Catholic schools and colleges established by the Loreto Sisters. Job Role: To work as part of a team to assist staff and students in using all forms of IT equipment in the college, and assist in the running and development of the college IT infrastructure. To organise, coordinate and supervise the technicians within the department. Responsible for managing the Helpdesk function, ensuring tickets are actioned by the CCIT Team and resolved or escalated where appropriate. Also to take responsibility for managing the setup and support of IT used during college events throughout the year. Main Duties and Responsibilities: To organise and supervise the work of the technicians within the department. To provide first and second line technical support for staff and students To diagnose user faults e.g., logon issues, profile faults, permission errors To configure and install new/replacement PC, server, and peripheral hardware, including printers, whiteboards, projectors, scanners etc. To provide support for the college Apple macs To provide Audio/Visual equipment support for college events, both internal and external To access information on the CCTV system as required and produce copies for Senior Management team, and police as required. To ensure all CCTV equipment is operating correctly and report any faults to the Network Manager To package software for deployment using technologies such as App-V and MSI To support installed applications assisting in diagnosing software faults To assist the Network Manager in ensuring software license compliance To ensure security of IT infrastructure, maintenance/monitoring of antivirus, patching and network monitoring To log and respond calls on the helpdesk and where required escalate to the Network Manager To design and implement technical projects To maintain and resupply stock - ensuring at all times the college has the appropriate stocks of spares and parts, including paper, toner and organising resupply as appropriate To arrange for the digital recording of TV and other media encoding as requested by staff, ensuring full compliance with licensing agreements To provide support for roadshows and other events held at local schools Key Requirements: Over 2 years experience of providing desktop, server and network support & development in a working environment Experience supporting all core desktop and server technologies used at the College in a working environment. Including: Windows Server 2008/2012, Windows 7/Windows 10 High level of literacy/communication skills, capable of independently producing documentation written to a high, professional standard. Excellent fault finding and diagnostic skills Excellent organisational and administrative skills Motivated to exploit how technologies can be used and applied within an educational environment A desire to aim for a continual improvement in service, management and maintenance of college IT services. Proactive with a high level of initiative, capable of identifying new work and improvements independently. Current Driving Licence Enhanced DBS Clearance (to follow an initial offer of employment) Desirable: Experience of working in an educational establishment Possession of one or more relevant IT qualifications (e.g. CompTIA A+/Network+, relevant Microsoft certifications, Cisco CCNA/CCNP) Skills in other systems desired include SCOM 2007/2012, WSUS, DFS, Sharepoint, Unix/Linux, Forefront Endpoint Protection, SAN Technologies, Casper Suite, Veeam Strong understanding of core technologies used at the college, including Exchange 2013, Mac OS X, Office 2010/2016 Active Directory, IIS, DNS, DHCP, WPA, 802.1x, vSphere 5.x The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
