It's out-of-warranty and very unlikely anyone will pay to get an engineer out or buy a replacement... So, we've got to come up with a workaround... The ethernet port doesn't work on the formatter board, which looks like this: hp 50x15ca.jpg (image grabbed from ebay), but it appears the USB port is ok. We tried connecting a JetDirect en3700 to the USB port, but for some unknown reason there are a huge amount of jobs stuck in the printer and there appears to be no way to clear them all in one go, other than through the Embedded Web Server or some defunct software no longer available from HP (Easy Printer Care). A factory reset didn't work either. There are numerous jumper switches and even a microswitch cleverly name "SW1" on the formatter board and I can't find any information about the board itself on the internets. Has anyone here got any juicy knowledge about this beast of a plotter or the board? Thanks.

No bent pins. Thanks for the link. Going to try a few diagnostics test and probably wipe the HDD. Hopefully we'll be able to get it going again...

Strange issue... Whenever printer was connected to the JetDirect, phantom jobs would appear and disappear on the panel, and wiping HDD didn't fix it. Connect directly via USB to PC and it was fine. Anyway, had to resort to a PC print server in the end. Everybody's happy now they don't have to spend a couple of grand on a new one!
