Geoff Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 I just found the best addon ever. Transmog Roulette. https://mods.curse.com/addons/wow/transmogroulette
Mark_Norton Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Looking to change my UI. Currently using Bartender for actionbars but fancy a change. Is anyone here using ElvUI and know how to set it up?
DMcGuigan Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 (edited) Looking to change my UI. Currently using Bartender for actionbars but fancy a change. Is anyone here using ElvUI and know how to set it up? *waves* Depends what you mean by knowing how to set it up though, mine's fairly basic, made a few changes to the LUA back when I first started using it (can't remember what for), and a few edits for resource bar texts.. other than that, it's had everything I need. Most of ElvUI is designed to not need any fancy editing, it's all done through menus similar to your normal WoW settings, I think TukUI is the "Here's a thing, go do your own LUA". Their forums are pretty good though, I can take a crack at any questions, anything I don't know will definitely be on there. EDIT: Found a shot of the action bars at least, there's another on the right of the screen that has my hearthstones, pots etc. I'll take a proper screenshot tonight for the full UI setup. Mark_Norton Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 You have to download it from a website don't you? I tried getting it from Curse Client last night but found the main addon isn't there. Is it a case of downloading the addon from their website and then putting it in a folder? I'm such a amateur when it comes to these things, i'm so used to just getting everything i need from the curse client. In honesty, i'm just trying to fill the gaps of time that i have with make everything look nice for legion.

You have two options, either download from their website and unzip into the Interfaces folder in your WoW directory, or sign up on their website and install the TukUI Launcher, you can then use it to download and install ElvUI to the correct location and enable one click updating, I'd definitely recommend using the launcher. There's also a premium version of the launcher which provides auto updates, but I don't mind clicking a few buttons to save some cash.
Mark_Norton Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Awesome, cheers for that. I'll make sure to get it all set up tonight!
Geoff Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Oh you can get crazy xp for your low level alts now: 1. Got to invasion site, in a starter zone if you're on PvP server. E.g. Azshara or Northern Barrens for Horde. 2. If you are worried about getting killed by the mini-bosses, grab a vehicle. 3. Do Stage 1 and 2 of the invasion. Tag everything. Don't die or you'll miss out on XP. 3. Go to a rest area and log out. 5. Event has reset, so rinse and repeat.

Decided to focus on just one character for now until i'm well into legion. (Unless the guild needs me to be another class for raiding) I find that doing the invasion "exploit" kinda takes away from learning how to play the class properly so i've avoided it.
Geoff Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Had a guild meeting on Sunday night (and a preliminary meeting on the Wednesday) to sort out what everyone is doing raiding wise. I am playing my DK in blood spec. I got my blood artifact, levelled to 101 and and have done about half of the stormhiem main quest chain. Our guild leadership has been encouraging us to use Medivh's spreadsheet to level efficiently, you can get a copy of it here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TiiI4huz4NXKfx7PGvvVTyP6xu8VaDNZ4-FEn69mOhc/pubhtml#

Mark_Norton Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 That looks pretty hardcore. Semi Hardcore but when you're trying to get a raid group geared and prepped for progression, this document is a lifesaver. I've never been one to rush expansions and maximise everything, i tend to just take my time and enjoy the expansion before raiding with my friends.
CAM Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 I'll probably take my time anyway. The guild I am in is a PvP one and they have no intention to raid so I need to look around. Haven't found one though.

Haven't found one though. I mean, you're paying the sub so you can play however you want! Good luck with the guild situation man, a good guild can make the game 10x better. I got to 101 last night before a quest bugged and i decided to call it a night so i could get up for work.
Geoff Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Meh, I levelled a DH in beta so I've already done all the levelling once already. I don't mind missing things out on live now. Although I'll have to do everything at some point for the Pathfinder achievement. Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part One - Achievement - World of Warcraft

Although I'll have to do everything at some point for the Pathfinder achievement. Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part One - Achievement - World of Warcraft To be fair, you're completely right. It didn't occur to me that a lot of people will have done the content already in Beta so them rushing through is understandable. How are you finding the DH?
Geoff Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 DPS spec is awful boring drudgery. Tanking is a far more interactive fun experience. The only downside is the bad impression people will of got on early access due to not having access to the full talent tree (very squishy tanking).
Mark_Norton Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Yeah, i tried the DPS spec and was disappointing by how terribly repetitive and simple it is.
Geoff Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 In beta I chose Demon Blades as my level 100 talent, making things even more dull than I needed to without realising. However, issues caused by the simplifying of specs isn't limited to DH's. Other classes have been reduced to mashing two or three buttons too (Hunters, Mages, Warriors, Paladins, etc). In comparison the rotation for my demonology warlock is horrific (and the other warlock specs are pretty crazy complex too).

In comparison the rotation for my demonology warlock is horrific (and the other warlock specs are pretty crazy complex too). I think this is why I was drawn to Survival over the other two specs. It felt more interactive with multiple abilities to use, a full action bar and careful consideration to upkeep damage over time and trigger cooldowns at the right time for burst damage. It was complex enough to keep my attention but simple enough to be understandable and fun and I feel like I have some flexibility in my talents. If I want I can also make it more complex for more damage by swapping Throwing Axes for Way of the Mok'Nathal AP buff. Marksman on the other hand seemed flawed. I could add a DoT effect but it taunts (WTF?). And Sidewinders has awful animations and breaks the spec. It is a core talent that completely changes how the spec plays, requires another talent that also changes a core mechanic for the spec and leaves you with a few buttons to push mixed with a convoluted Mark/Vulnerable system. The alternative is keep the stacking mechanic and split Arcane/Multishot back into separate abilities which feels more frantic and fun but Sidewinders/Patient Sniper are so good they are practically baseline abilities.
CAM Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 So I got sidetracked last night. Got Talonclaw, started Aszune, popped over to Dalaran to hand something in for the Mining profession and fell down a well. An adventure down the rabbit hole began. I discovered The Underbelly. It changes between a normal Sanctuary and a lawless open PvP area. You get Sightless Eyes for killing bosses and palyers, pick up 20k of them and you get a rat mount. You can also fish them out of the sewers by the Black Market. There's a group of players down here and everyone is minding their own business fishing up Sightless Eyes from pools in the sewer. Most players come in, see people fishing and figure "hassle fishers, get chopped into sushi" and either disappear or get their fishing rods out. It's in the fishers' interests to look after each other so they can keep fishing and you generally get left alone provided you don't pose a threat to everyone in the room. Then a boss spawns in the room. A big shark. It's quiet at first, then ~60 odd people descend upon the sewer. The guards are on duty so the area is in Sanctuary mode so everyone attacks the boss. Then a message flashes up "Guards off duty" and all hell breaks loose. Every AoE in the game gets thrown on the cluster of players. The boss is forgotten, a mass brawl breaks out. It is the biggest chaos I have ever seen in WoW. There are fights on the surface, there are fights underwater, there are Level 110s wading around slaughtering everything that moves in a tiny water filled room. There are level 100s hiding in the crowd and picking off any weakened mid-level players or other 100s. There are healers impossible to kill, healing random players and throwing their AoE heals about prolonging the fights. There's the occasional "Ooops" moment when you wonder why your attacks aren't hitting and you realise you just attracted the ire of a level 110 and now they are targeting you. And once the guards are back on duty, the boss is gone and the 60 man mob disappears back into the depths of the sewers hunting another boss, the fishing poles come back out and peace and quiet is restored. Apart from the occasional chancer who either gets dispatched quickly or is a level 110 who instakills you (or cancels their cast when they see another 110 fishing who will probably grind them to dust).
Geoff Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I engaged in some unintentional PvP while levelling (I'm on a PvP server). However hilariously I decided to level in my tank spec. The pesky rogue I had angered by spreading diseases about failed to dent my 1 million hitpoints and eventually died after 20 minutes of me bludgeoning him in the face. DK Blood PvP at it's finest.
Geoff Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 (edited) Dinged 105 last night. I've finished the main quest lines for Stormhiem and Azuna. I still have the end of zone Dungeon quests to do for each one. I've also got my order all humming away. My followers will of finished the 'do 5x 8hr missions' quest by the time I get home from work tonight. So I'm on target for dinging 110 over the weekend at some point. Edited September 1, 2016 by Geoff
Mark_Norton Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 I got to 104. I've only just finished the first zone i went too which was Highmountain. Got all the treasures, did all the bonus objectives and did all the quests. I plan on doing this for all the zones. Having a TON of fun but i move to Uni on Saturday so it's a bit hit and miss as to whether i'll get to play this weekend or not.
Geoff Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Our guild outlaw rogue reckons he's a bit OP and he's going to get nerfed. He posted this as evidence:
