Server crash - restart - network connection moving to 3 and 4

Hi all, I've got problems with our DC

 

It crashed yesterday and today. Event logs appear to show nothing of any use (that I can see).

 

Server restarts itself but then during startup it stops at;

"Alert! System fatal error during previous boot....

Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility"

 

I think the F1 stop may be linked to a dead Perc 6/i battery which I'm trying to replace asap.

 

Press F1 and the server boots fine.

But, once up and running the Local Area Connections are not correct.

We have four in total on this server (Dell Poweredge 2900III), three are disabled and just one is in use.

Oddly 1 and 2 (2 is used) become either 3&4 or 5&6 - 1 & 2 are missing meaning no network!

If I then restart 1 & 2 come back and all is fine - and all network connections are remembered for Local Area Connection 2

 

Not sure if all is linked - trying to find some answers now but not getting far.

 

It also has an issue with Windows updates - Code 80070422 - going to look into that too!

Given that the server could be up to 10 years old - it could be anything gone wrong with it really. I would be eying up the power supplies and motherboard with my beady eyes, and looking online to see if I can get a cheap server delivered!

Hi, yes agreed. Have been pushing for £s for replacements for far too long. Now inevitably problems are happening there's still no £s to replace them - so I need to keep them running for the time being.

 

Power is redundant, 2 PSUs so not too concerned about them.

 

Also, they do not freeze/crash as such - but restart, then halt at the F1 F2 prompt.

Not getting very far looking into it, and now have to wander round school taking photos of our Easter fair!
