lmrogers Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Afternoon everyone, I'm getting ready to deploy Windows 10 this summer. The deployment side of things seem to be all set up and ready with SCCM 2012 R2, and I'm now just working on Group Policies. Just thought I would see what others have done first. Did people re-write most of there group policies or just change/add the necessary? I just think I have a lot of legacy policies and was seeing if there was an easy way to identify them without effecting the production system. Cheers
FragglePete Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I've essentially started all my GPOs from scratch for Windows 10, with the exception of some of the ones that deal with things like Software Restriction Policies. Some of the policies I have running for Windows 7 have got Internet Explorer stuff tucked away in which obviously has been replaced with GPP when IE11 came about (or was it IE10? Can't quite remember). Some of policies also just don't do anything in Windows 10 compared to Windows 7, so it just made sense to work my through it and sit with two machines. One editing the policies, the other testing, rebooting, testing, etc. So far so good. I just wish some of the newer things in Windows 10 were more granular in their settings with GPOs. And, don't get me started on the 'roll six to start' Start Menu! Pete
lmrogers Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 That's what I thought would be the case. I hate going through Group Policies, they take so long to sort out. I have got so many to go through where people had just kept adding to them over the years to get things working how they wanted.
newpersn Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Thought i would give this a bump rather than starting my own as its related. I just going though my GPO and printing them off to go though, I'm going to be making some new GPO for windows 10 (blocking all other polices for windows 7) Has anyone got a basic gpo i can look at?
