DVD that is SCORM Compliant

If I have a DVD that I want to put on my LMS, what format does the DVD need to be in? If I upload the DVD as a MP3, would that work in the LMS?

If you want to import SCORM complaint learning materials in to your lms then the contents of the dvd need to be SCORM compliant?

 

MP3 is an audio format.

Why exactly do you want the DVD to be in SCORM format? If the DVD is video i.e. TV series, movie then simply ripping the contents to a video format mpg, mp4, mov and uploading should suffice. Obviously if the video is long, you would have a very large file so might be worth splitting into parts for the users. If the DVD is full of other content e.g. pdf docs etc, then uploading them into a course with some thought is as good as having the extra overhead of packaging the content into SCORM format. On the other hand, if you are clear why you need SCORM, then you will need to investigate software that allows you to create SCORM packages.
