JR73 Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Hi all, We currently use a few virtual squid proxies to record students HTTP traffic but the performance of these virtual servers is a bit hit and miss, we've tried ramping the specs of the virtual servers up but we are still getting issues with poor performance with loading web pages. Do any of you know of any freeware that will record requested URLs against a user ID? Thanks
nathan3388 Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 We have a fortigate box that is our firewall and router that pulls the user accounts that are logged on, then logs all the traffic against that then we use forti analyser to create reports. This also allows you to see what they are actually searching for on search engines that are encrypted to this is how we monitor the kids. This isn't not a cheap option but this is how we have got around it. We tried squid and it didn't do what we wanted so had to look for alternatives and this is what we did.
