Sophos XG 125w Email Issues

Hey folks, first ever post in the technical side of the forum... I'm well and truly stumped.

 

So, we recently picked up a Sophos XG 125w and it's beautiful... except for one little problem.

 

We've set the policies up at we would expect them to be required, with a few of them being reflexive... again as required. This is when we hit a problem, we can receive inbound emails just fine but we cannot send outbound emails. For some reason our Sophos XG 125w tries to use itself as the mail server, and not our exchange server. While we were troubleshooting we made a very simple "Allow all traffic anywhere" rule, also reflexive, but still have this issue.

 

My main question and the thing that stumps me most, is if we can receive emails... it must mean that the firewall is talking to the exchange server, yes? So then why when it comes to sending an outbound email, does it not talk to aforementioned exchange server and try to default itself as the mail server?

 

I'm not sure if I've worded this all that clearly, but I'm sure you get the idea of it. Since we run a SBS we can't just put the exchange server in the Firewall DMZ as we would like, so we're trying to keep it behind the Firewall (for obvious reasons) but until we get this policy in place that allows outbound mail... our shiny firewall must sit there collecting dust while I shout at it from my corner and rip small clumps of hair from my head whilst googling frantically.

 

Any advice/ideas would be amazing,
