I was poking around with a test install of 10.5 last week (installed, added a test student group, fiddled around a bit with what people see then got distracted by users).

 

One of the things I did that diverted from the instructions was to use a standard user (hapdemolookup) for the inital config. This worked fine (as I expected it to) for looking up AD groups and the like, but you're explictly using a Domain Admin account in the docs and videos.

 

So....are you relying on using the DA credentials for the home drive access (rather than passing on the user-supplied credentials) or is there another reason......?

The domain admin rights are used for impersonation purposes on the server, it's odd how it works but it needs admin rights. If you find it works without the admin rights then you can keep it using the delegate rights, just share how you did that, because it removes a possible security issue.
