X-13 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 I'm not sure if this is an EduGeek thing or not, but I keep getting links in threads that are being blocked by our filtering. The link in this post: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/165497-what-no-audit-trail-safeguarding-2.html#post1418470 When I click that, it redirects to: http://arvato.tradedoubler.com/projectr/?tduid=(29fe550dbf385fc7836690e34d1ef428)(256380)(2459594)(TnL5HPStwNw-dp8n5jtdfN9ZLidE.b_j0g)()*_td_*KEEP_NEWEST&_td_ifelse=microsoft.td*td_string*https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd392015(v=sql.100).aspx*td_true*_td_url=https://arvato.tradedoubler.com/arvato.php&_td_deeplink=https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd392015(v=sql.100).aspx*td_false*&_td_deeplink=https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd392015(v=sql.100).aspx I've had it happen in a few threads and it's always tradedoubler...
6Foot2 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 I just tried the link and it seems to take me to the right page: Scan your machine for viruses?
X-13 Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 I just tried the link and it seems to take me to the right page: Scan your machine for viruses? Did it go through tradedoubler first though? And yeah, I'm scanning now. I'm not looking forward to having to tell people the AV is carp... If it comes up clean, and the EduGeek guys say it isn't them, then we have a problem.
6Foot2 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Did it go through tradedoubler first though?... No. Went straight to that page.
X-13 Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 No. Went straight to that page. Nooooo...
6Foot2 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Nooooo... Just checked again. Straight to the expected page. No pages in between. I think some checks might be in order... Is it just your station or are there others on your network with similar issues? Hope you get it sorted soon. whatever the problem turns out as.
X-13 Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 Is it just your station or are there others on your network with similar issues? There are others, but I just tried it on another computer and it's fine...
Arthur Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 There are others, but I just tried it on another computer and it's fine... Could it be caused by a browser extension? If using Chrome have you tried Incognito mode?
X-13 Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 Could it be caused by a browser extension? If using Chrome have you tried Incognito mode? All I have on is Adblock and it does it in incognito as well.
ZeroHour Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 This seems to be caused by skimlinks which tags referral tags onto certain domains automatically so if anyone was to make a purchase at Amazon/Microsoft Store etc we get a small commission. The reason DaveP isn't getting it is probably because he has adblock turned on and is blocking it tagging the urls where as you have proxy level filtering as well. It also means DaveP doesn't have us on his whitelist.... I will take a look at ways to minimise its script though but the nice thing with it as it usually doesn't cause any issues for most and is a non-intrusive way to generate a little revenue without having to use ad banners.

StevieM Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Is this still being looked into? I have the same 'Advert blocked' problem on every Microsoft TechNet link. I then have to go round the houses trying to find the exact same page being referred to in the post. It's a real pain. 1

I have hard disabled it again (its built into the vbulletin core) and we will use it very sparingly until we can find a way to exclude things properly. 1
