faza Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 When i use the backup software supplied with Server 2003, i create a backup and select First Storage Group and it creates a 14Gb file. I come to just take a look at its contents by going to restore expanding the backup and i can the Mailbox store etc... all the yellow folders but when i select one to see the contents it says no entries is this correct? If i just back the c:\ i can see the contents. Is this right???
DMcCoy Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 The Exchange Microsoft backup add on does not do a "blick level" backup that some programs do of the individual folders and messages, it takes a copy of the whole database. This is less of an issue to restore mailboxes with 2003 (over 2000) as you can use the recovery storage group feature.
DMcCoy Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I assume so, I've not used the built in backup for a long time, but backup exec doesn't show them when you do the whole db either.
