Job Failed on Backup Exec 2010

We recently had a member of our Admin team leave the school. With a temporary replacement for her we renamed the Server 2008 Domain account and propagated permissions so the new person had the files the leaver had purposely left. Unfortunately Backup Exec 2010 didn't like this and last night failed on the backup citing the failed files as listed under the previous users name. Is there any easy way round this issue that we haven't been able to see for the wood for the trees?

So did you make the new user the name of the old one? Or what was the rename for?

 

Are the paths to the folders being backed up specified in the backup job? As obviously if the user was renamed and their home folder was it might not exist anymore

Thanks for the reply Steve,

 

Just went into AD and renamed the user. Then on the home file reset permissions for the new user to have the required access. I guess I could exclude that user from the Job selection but as it's the Finance Officer perhaps not!

 

When the vacancy is filled I'll set up a fresh account and transfer any relevant data across but in the meantime sticking with the temporary workaround. At 64 I find I learn something new every day

I was more wondering if when you said changed permissions etc did you take off the system/service account whatnot that BE uses, or if it was renamed to both accounts the SID etc

 

What's the actual error it gives? Permission denied?

Thanks Steve, Yes it's an access denied message. If I'm reading you correctly you are saying I should be able to add the Backup Exec permission to the Folder? I'd left the settings pretty basic for a couple of weeks and the Finance Officer was ok with access and the back up worked fine. Yesterday, however, they needed to save an Excel doc downloaded from Wisenet. The only way I was able to sort the access denied to Temp folder situation that was preventing that was by changing the Folder permissions much more thoroughly.

Normally it's running under a set domain admin/system style service account that can grant itself access to the folders, but just wondering if you've effectively blocked any inheritance if you've manually set the permissions etc.

 

So even with the rename it was working before you modified the permissions? What's the permissions look like on the folder compared to a working folder?

Just checking what account the backup exec service runs as? Can you then try and browse to that folder using the account from your pc or a server? I would double check the security permissions on the persons folders and make sure the backup exec account has access.
