Tma_WillRoberts Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 So, SmartInk appears to be ruining the performance of our machines , they are i5's with 4gb of RAM but smart ink appears to cause massive performance deficits. I wondered if anyone had found a way to get around the performance problems of if someone found a way to disable it on startup and enable it on the launch of particlar programs ?

I wondered if anyone had found a way to get around the performance problems of if someone found a way to disable it on startup and enable it on the launch of particlar programs ? I disabled it on startup previously by using a GPP to delete the following value names: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\SMART Ink HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\SMART Ink It was mentioned to Staff that this was causing slow preformance on their computers which some had previously had issues with, and that they could run Smart Ink from the shortcut if they needed to use the program but warned this would slow down the system until they next restarted or logged off. sniffingmoose Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I agree, its bloatware its takes ages to install. I have had no issues with performance, probably because I stick to the older version 10 as it came with a site licence and may be this helps performance. Worth experimenting. However I have not been able to get the drivers to work on the older version when connected to a brand new board.
Tma_WillRoberts Posted January 17, 2016 Author Posted January 17, 2016 Installing it is fine but whenever it's running it seems to make the PC'S so slow ! I just wondered if there would be a way to make it launch only when we need it to !
sniffingmoose Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 To diagnose this, is the problem just on the PC's that are attached to a Smart Board with the Board driver installed? Is it also running slow when its installed on PC's that just runs the smart Notebook software without the driver and hence have no Smart Board attached? Also what version are you running? If the boards are still under warranty Steljis tech support should help you.
