Morning

I have logged a case with SIMS about this as I am a bit worried its more serious than I first thought.

I was doing some tidying up yesterday and I found a duplicate parent on SIMS, no matter how many times I train staff there always seems to be one that slips in. So I went in to delete it, I added the sibling onto the correct parent and changed the name of the parent so I could find it easier. one thing caught my eye... the parent had lots of kids documents attached to it. When I looked in student details the students name had changed also... so I have a contact who is also a pupil... he is the dad of his brother (banjo music)

I've done some more digging and I found a staff member who I created in error 10 years ago who has a Z after their name... who is a parent of a pupil who left 8 years ago which is definitely wrong.

Slightly concerned their is data corruption in my system as I managed to find these quite easily.

When you have a student who is also a parent (not really but SIMS has been made to think this is the case) you need to break the sibling link as you did, but either your support team or Capita have a patch that you can run which removes them from the contact list.

This isn't corruption, it's human error. If only we could eliminate the human element from data entry!

The nice thing is it's pretty easy to resolve these issues. And with training you can reduce the slip ups that cause this. Not had a duplicate created in a few months now!

I have the patch so will apply it tonight... I also have a teacher that's a parent of a pupil which is very odd as the account had a load of zzzzz after its name so no one would use it.
