Tracking Motivation and Behaviour in SIMs

Hi folks,

 

Another SIMs nube question if I may. Staff keep asking me for a marksheet to enable them to track pupils Grades + Behaviour mark + Motivation mark for all subjects, 3 assessment times a year throughout the school. My ready reckoning makes that a marksheet of 16 KS3 subjects x 3 columns (G, M, B) x 3 times a year, x 5 years = 720. Which is obviously out of the question.

 

Any suggestions of how to achieve this for them? 4matrix takes care of the Grades for me, but I can't see how I can do it for Behaviour and Motivation marks. I may have missed something painfully obvious so please feel free to point that out.

Hi Databird, I agree getting all this information onto 1 marksheet is impractical. I would recommend a marksheet per year (behaviour and motivation are aspects right, not counts of beh incidents?)

 

Assuming they're marks in AM and that you use 1 set of aspects with result sets for year and term. E.g. Aspect: English Motivation Result Set: Autumn Year 8. Then the fastest way to set this up is to create a new column add columns for data entry and select all three resultsets for one year, e.g. Year 7 Autumn, Year 7 Spring, Year 7 Summer. Select all the Grades, Behaviour and Motivation aspects (if you add categories to aspects this can be sped up). Once you have the Year 7 template done, clone it, then use the 'Replace' button to switch the Year 7 resultsets to the Year 8 ones. And so on up to Year 11. Good Luck.

Is this one master mark sheet they are after?

 

We collect this data up to 6 times a year but the marksheets the classroom teacher use only have Grade / Behaviour / Effort - 3 columns.

 

All I have to do is replace the result set every half term (laborious but achievable in an hour or so).

 

If the Head of Year wants an overview I simply make a behaviour/effort marksheet for them with all the subjects available to that year group - it's never more than 40 columns.

 

Tracking effort/behaviour over 5 years (on one marksheet) seems like data for data's sake, they aren't going to do anything with it.

Behaviour and effort needs to be dealt with at the time, it's not particularly useful to make a graph for a year 11 pupil listing their behaviour/effort over 15 or more time periods! Unless you want to show them why they are failing now....
